    what an honest and inpsiring story -thank u for sharing

    you helped yourself and then were sent other beautiful helpers... I'm so happy you got the help you needed.

    I also had to restart my journey a bit when diagnosed with CPTSD - but things make a lot more sense now. To know you're not alone is amazing, as CPTSD syptoms, well, they're weird. Unpredictable. I felt like a real oddball. Now I know it's just my body trying to protect me, and I've heard so so so many others who experience the same thing.

    Those nurses really are amazing - particularly mental health nurses - they have such a wisdom in their approach.
    Good on u for putting yourself first and so glad it worked out

    I was diagnosed with anxiety at 22, but I think I had it in some form all my life. I've been on medication for over twenty years.

    By most measures, my life has been a success. Great job, great family etc but there have been many days when I couldn't see myself even leaving the house, let alone doing the things I've done. It is very hard to be positive when the fog of anxiety descends.

    The key to my success with anxiety has been
    good doctors and the right medicine,
    good exercise, sleep and food
    talking to people, especially counsellors
    breathing right - especially breathing all the way out to relax your lungs
    learning to observe and accept the anxiety

    It's hell when you're going through it, but it will pass.

    Great story, anxiety is a very common part of our ordinary life and each and every one of us has experienced anxiety at some point or another, the only difference would be the degree of anxiety which we feel.

    Hey everyone,

    Great to see a thread on the positives. It's funny that anxiety can be so horrible, but in a way I'm glad it's happened to me.

    Sun Tzu says in The Art of War; "Know thy enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated". We can't defeat our enemies until we know them and we can't know them if they are hidden. I often think that if my anxiety didn't manifest this year, I would never have the capacity to understand it and it would remain a part of my life in more damaging and insidious ways. Now I know what I'm dealing with and I'm overcoming it. Every time your anxiety arises, you understand it better and in turn become more adept at defeating it. Imagine how many people don't have that chance to overcome their demons? You do.

    I also heard something last night that people with anxiety are actually just those of us on the planet that are sensitive and open enough to the energy of the world. I have to agree; I often get told that I am intuitive and I know that I feel things that other people don't. While sometimes that is negative (anxiety/fear), a lot of times it is positive in the form of noticing someone's emotional state, energy or when they need support. I'm sure a lot of you are the same. You often know just the right thing to say, when to be silent or speak up, when to stay or leave and when to give someone a hug. You have the capacity to enjoy everything even more. You may experience fear more intensely, but you also experience love and positively more intensely too. To me, that's a really wonderful thing and makes life a beautifully rich experience.

    Lastly, if all else fails, one of my symptoms in anxiety attacks is that my legs feel very strange. I get a lot of tension and cramps and I suddenly feel overly tall or a bit like I'm walking in slow motion. Personally, I find that quite hilarious. A 6 foot man walking around like he's on the moon because his legs have gone to jelly. An important reminder to laugh! Even if I'm having anxiety, I crack up at how ridiculous it is.

    Anxiety is so much about perspective. I hope you are able to see yours in a new light today. Sending you love xx

    That's a great read!

    I see things much the same as you, just from a foot lower in height lol! okay half a foot.

    I really like the way you expressed your perspective of anxiety.

    I was diagnosed with C-PTSD earlier this year but I knew I had it for a long while now.
    I got some specialist psych treatment which was only PART of the jigsaw for healing.

    I'm feeling pretty great now, I put ALOT of work in to my MH this year - more than ever before.

    It was SO WORTH IT!

    I loved that Sun Tzu quote too but I related to it in fighting a real life demon through Courts and could ONLY have won bec I knew the demon probably better that it knew itself.
    So HIGH FIVE!

    I also wanted to extend a VERY WARM WELCOME to the BB forums TX!!

    It's great you're on board and I hope to see you round the traps more often!!

    Thank you for this. I'm glad to hear that it really pays to be positive. I hope all of us get to have the right mindset when dealing with anxiety. Sometimes, the battle is impossible. Like there's no other way but to surrender. It's hard to accept that our minds can mess up with us, but at the end of the day, we need to be strong. Everyday is another day to fight.

    Hi my name is Emma and I deal with anxiety attacks they are horrible. I would really love to find someone who deals with this as well if you do reply to this. Anxiety can be scary but it will be okay. Unfortunately I have severe anxiety and due to that I have attempted suicide before. Don’t do it as it won’t take the pain away it will just make you feel guilty of how much pain your family and friends will be experiencing if you kill your self. So please don’t do it if you suffer from this please reply to my forum. Thx☺️☺️😊

    It has been so incredible to hear everyone’s positive transformations and stories of hope. I’d love to share my own too.

    Four years ago I had a traumatic gynocology surgery, then had my first panic attack the next day worried that something went wrong during. Though I didn’t know it was a panic attack, instead I thought it was a heart attack. After months of tests, they determined my heart and breathing was fine, but I later had other health issues and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 24. It was a lot of tough times, severe panic attacks and ER visits.

    Fast forward to now, I’m 27 and I’ve been to a lot of therapy, both in person and e-therapy and I still have daily struggles but no where as bad as I had a few years ago. Moodgym, the Feeling Good book and having an amazing therapist and GP has helped me so much. I speak around the country about my journey with MS and anxiety and run my own successful online training business. While some days I do struggle, I know that I can still live a happy and successful life.

    I am now focussing on accepting the anxiety, I find it frustrating that I have to deal with this on a daily basis when others don’t have to/it’s a lot of work. If there’s any advice on being accepting of the challenges of GAD anxiety I would really appreciate that.
