I am struggling a lot through this new lockdown.

we have been stuck in our homes for what feels like over a year (it actually has been). It’s been real hard. My housemate is a massive support and I adore her.

Ive been working the whole time as an essential worker and it’s too much. I want to take time off but I want to get away from the house I’ve been stuck in, but unfortunately the government won’t let me.

I need some words of encouragement from some likeminded people. I’m seeing a psychiatrist, on my fifth round of meds. I think they are doing ok but I believe it’s more situational. I’ve made appointments to see a psychologist.

give me some love Please. I’m extremely depressed and self harming unfortunately. This community is lovely and I would appreciate some support.

Hello flamingolady, sounds like Ur doing a lot to keep things afloat and not get overwhelmed. I feel the self care and self preservation in your post. Well done. For getting to where you are now and for deciding to post here.

I also feel like a lot of my struggles are related to the difficulty of my situation, to being in a triggering environment.

I hope sometime soon you can get some form of time off , it is really awful that it is not possible now. Sending suppprt to you today

I am sorry you are experiencing these feelings. I just want you to know you aren't alone. Lockdowns are hard.

I hope you find a helpful psychologist soon and hopefully get some time off. We are nearly there - just need more people to get vaccinated and hopefully lockdowns will be a thing of the past (for those who are vaccinated).

    Stay strong,

    Hi Flamingolady,

Sorry you are feeling this way…..

I understand lockdowns would be difficult.

I’m glad to hear you have a supportive house mate and are seeing a psychiatrist and soon a psychologist…….

Hang in there things will get better..

Hello Flaminglady, yes, we do love you, especially for having the strength to join the forums, it's very much appreciated and know that this time has been a period none of us had ever expected and the longer it goes on the more frustrated we will begin.

The promises made by our government have not been satisfactory and if they have tried, it's so confusing and the rules don't 'add up', meaning what we are allowed to do, somebody next to us isn't permitted, so we understand your position.

Being an essential worker makes you such an important person in the community, but it's so intensive you literally can't keep going on and definitely can't be expected to do all this work without a break, it's not possible, and of course, your situation needs to be considered as well as those who are suffering, because that's exactly what's happening to you.

Having a great supportive housemate is good but they too need a break, not so much from you, especially if they love you, but may be holding back their own fears, so this concerns te both of you.

I've found that psychologists are more emotionally involved with their clients, rather than my experience with psychiatrists, others may disagree and are entitled to do so, but you need to feel as though you can open up to them without any hesitation, then you will achieve exactly what you're after.

We applaud you for being an essential worker and know how hard your job must be, and hope you can get back to us.
