Hi all, I'm new here but I've often ended up viewing the forums when I start googling things about my anxiety. I've had anxiety and depression and some other mental health stuff for the past 12 years. lately I'm really struggling with my health anxiety. I saw my doctor who confirmed that my symptoms are anxiety but I'm struggling to believe him. The symptoms are really distressing me :( I feel like it's hard to focus on getting on with my life so everything ends up at a standstill while I'm anxious. I haven't worked a "normal" job since my anxiety started due to this. Anyway, I'll stop rambling, it'll be nice to connect with others who understand!

Hi Jungle Julia I am sorry you have bad anxiety to.I have had it for years to the point I feel totally sick.I have tried medication but can' be on them for other medical reasons.I find it is just a matter of living with it as well as my depression which is really severe at the moment.Getting into a daily routine does help for me and not having to do something completely new which can really trigger it.

    Tale care,

    Mark.

    Thanks Mark :)

Yes I've also tried medication but it didn't work for me. Antidepressants actually made my symptoms a lot worse.

Sorry to hear your depression is bad at the moment. Mine tends to come in waves, anxiety, then depression, then back to anxiety. I spent a fair bit of today in bed because I couldn't motivate myself to do anything.

It really sucks. Nice to meet you though :)

Yes I understand about medication not working.I have been on so many different ones over the years. It would be nice to find away to overcome everything without medication.I have seen a pschologist over the years. It was just nice to have someone to talk to about my problems.Maby It could help you.Is their paricular situations where you find your anxiety worst? I find if I have to go somewhere new it can trigger me bad.I don' like new things.

I'm seeing a psychologist at the moment. He is really great, it's made a huge difference to be able to talk to someone who understands.

New things definitely mess with me too. Unfortunately I'm in the process of moving to a new place where I won't be nearby to my 'safety nets' (I financially have to make this move though, it's not optional). I'm also working for myself and things are quite busy at the moment. So I'm feeling a lot of pressure. I just want to curl up and disappear. I hate sounding so negative though, when I hear myself complaining I end up feeling annoyed and guilty!

That's good you are seeing a pschologist and is helping.I had a lovely lady I saw when I lived in the big city.I can understand about moving I moved here abou 5l3 years ago to a small country town after living in a city.I had to move here to be close to my kids as I was over 2 hours away and am only 15 minutes away.Thats good you are busy with work and that you are self employed.I use to be self employed years ago but now on a DSP these days and I am a part time carer for my kids who have special needs. It was very hard for me at first when I moved here.I don' even get mail delivered or have a shop in my town.Such a different life style.

Wow, I'm also moving regional from the city. I am worried about the isolation but its just so much more affordable. I also get the DSP (I only do a little part time work at home myself, not enough to effect DSP, even that is stressful for me but i'm hoping to improve and build the business).

A lot of the psychs are doing Telehealth now, I am hoping to continue with mine after moving if it continues to be available. It must be hard caring for kids while also handling your own mental health, you should be proud of managing that.

Hi Jungle Julia how are you this morning I had a busy morning out in the garden and paid some bills online and am about to do my online shopping.I really don't have to go out much at all these days. This helps with my anxiety not having to go out as much. Its only when I have to take the kids to the big town for appointments that I get really anxious.
    Take care,
    Mark.

Hi Mark! I'm ok. My anxiety about physical symptoms is still there but I've been trying to focus on other things (walking my dog and doing a bit of work). Gardening sounds great! I hope that moving regional allows me to have a garden too :) yeah everything can be done from home now. It helps my anxiety too. I prefer shopping online. The silver lining of coronavirus is that so much more is available from home now (especially Telehealth and more work from home opportunities). Do you have agoraphobia? Or is it the driving? Or crowds? Personally, I have some agoraphobia :/

A cat came with the house! That's so cool! Pets are a great distraction and support.

Yeah I get panic attacks while driving these days. I used to be ok but the last 6 months or so it's gotten so bad. I panic if I get a red light. It's pretty unavoidable so I pretty much don't drive any more :(

Hi Julia yes when bought the house their was a stray cat hanging around starving so I adopted it.

I can understand about the panic attacks while driving.I really am so grateful to get out of the city and on these quiet country roads but unfortunately I have to take the kids into the city for appointments. It might be worth trying driving around the quieter streets if you have some around you and just avoid the bigger towns.

    Tale care,

    Mark.
