I’m 15 and in year 9. This year I have really struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and eating disorders (binge eating and anorexia). I’m so depressed that going to school feels impossible right now and I have no idea what to do. I don’t want to miss out on learning and at the same time I really don’t want to go to school. My eating habits are terrible, I can’t eat anything without feeling guilty and the second I do it makes me binge eat.

Hi, I really feel for you. I am a grandmother to a 16 year old girl.who also struggles with going to school. She was bullied in primary school and this really affected her confidence. Her diet is not good however I tell her she is loved and not to concern herself too much about her eating habits. So just now, know I am thinking of you and wish you the very best. you will get through this. "Baby steps". Take care and love yourself.

    Hi Grace,

School can definitely be very difficult these days, especially with the added social pressures. Being in grade 9, you currently have just over 3 years legit and you CAN do this! You will have bad days, maybe even weeks that are continuously not working out, however you have survived and gone head to head with all your bad days so far, and you can definitely take any future ones on too!

As someone who recently left school, I can definitely confirm it’s a bubble, your secluded from the outside works and forget the realities that exist outside, I had a massive friends group in school and talk to 2-3 people now. However, that is a blessing because the 2-3 school friends I have are true friends, the remaining I was just friends with because I saw them 5 days a week essentially! I can confirm things 100% get better, I too bad a eating disorder in school from the stress I took on. I would vomit everyday before school and anything I would try to have for breakfast would come out not soon after. In saying that, everyday I still tried and you should too! Before anyone else, you should be your number one fan!! After school, I went to university and my eating disorder 100% went away, I had started a new chapter in my life and things from there have definitely picked up
